Reasonable Suspicion

This training enables managers and supervisors the ability to recognize probable substance abuse in an employee, how to approach the employee, and the steps needed to initiate the appropriate organizational response.

Managers and supervisors engage in a combination of facilitated discussion, group dialogue, presentations and exercises.  KGA often partners with clients before the training to develop and refine pre-employment testing policies, procedures, and assess implications for changes within the organization.

Clients are able to choose between half day and full day workshops depending on the depth and specialization of their learning goals.  These workshops can be customized to accommodate a specific client’s needs and goals.

Topics and issues covered in either the half or full day workshops can include but are not limited to:

  • Assess the motivation for change and what introducing pre-employment drug screening will gain
  • Diagnose organizational readiness for pre-employment drug screening
  • Assess the benefits and obstacles of a change in policy
  • Review the pre-employment screening requirements, and the ramifications of new hires testing positive for illicit drugs and/or nicotine use on the hiring process.
  • Development of a customized pre-employment drug screening policy and process
  • Development of policies and a process for the employment of applicants reapplying after failing previous drug screens
  • Design of a training program for managers that includes all new policies and processes

A one-hour lunchtime seminar is also available to provide a broad overview on management and reasonable suspicion.  Participants will become aware of the importance of these issues in this educational seminar.
