What is an EAP?
An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free benefit offered by an employer to employees and their family members to help with behavioral/mental wellness and work-life issues that may impact work performance, health, and well-being. These services are often delivered by an external vendor and typically include short-term counseling and referral services provided 24/7. Many EAPs extend services to managers and HR professionals to address challenges in the work place, including employee relations challenges, performance issues, conflict management, and crisis response and support.
